Versatility and an open mind are keys to Sam West’s success as an artist. With a background in jazz and deep love of poetry and acoustic music, West moved to Nashville in 2010 and was quickly working as a bass sideman cutting teeth on local and international stages, as a professional songwriter and singer, as a published poet, and as a leader for his own projects.

West plays double bass, electric bass, and acoustic guitar across acutely diverse arrangements and styles. What started as a request to ‘fill the bass chair’ in a garage band in southern Illinois has become a love for all things sound. After several years studying in jazz performance, West toured all across the US from New York to Alaska and all across the world from Ireland to the Middle-East. He currently resides with his family in southwest Virginia.

Projects include fusion group Sam West Trio, bluegrass band Sheriff Scott and the Deputies, experimental spoken word and percussion duo Duende Entendre, and many others. Sam West EP ‘Break the Bread’ & ‘Sam West Trio’ are available on streaming and digital services.
